We were about halfway through our homeschool morning, when we took our break to have breakfast.
As I was cooking, I noticed a number of different birds at our bird feeder. I called the children to get the binoculars and the field guide to birds. What should have been a ten minute break before we 'hit the books' again, has turned into the most amazing morning. Initially I felt the need to get 'back to work' but the children, of their own accord, got their nature notebooks out, and started drawing the many different types of birds at the feeder. Josh also has been copying their names out of the field guide. They're having the best time.
God gives us so many wonderful teaching moments that have nothing whatsoever to do with our 'curriculum'. I think we need to recognize this and enjoy these wonderful, spontaneous experiences.
I'll let you know how it turns out !
