I have been trying to find my way for the past few years. I went from very busy mom to empty nest, plus I was a caretaker for my sick mom who passed away and then helped elderly aunt's and uncle's in there too. I was looking for something to do this last year and came across a ministry in my area. They do tons of things for the poor. They have several programs; gardening, laundry, business lessons, healthy food, bible studies, prison release program, biblical sex education and a free toy store. The toy store is what I worked on this year. They collect toys, clean them and give them away for Christmas. She has been doing this for 12 years and it gets bigger every year. Served over 4,500 kids this year!

I volunteered for the toy to see what it was all about. I have come away with mixed feelings. I feel that people are expecting the help so they do nothing to better themselves because they don't need to. Almost rewarding them for bad behaviour. The next project is the gardening program. The head of the program really, really wants me to help. They are trying to teach the kids to grow their own food. They tried it with adults but they just will not participate, "too much work" is what they hear. They will not take care of the gardens but just want the food at the end. Makes me sad. So how do you know if what you are doing is working? How do you know if it's where you're suppose to be? I sometimes feel like Jonah and am running away from God or I'm being Paul and going with 2 Thessalonians 3:10 "For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.""

I talked to a guy who runs the biggest charity in town (head of it for several years and he partners with the other group) and he said the poor have no money management skills at all and don't want any. They expect the help and know where to get all the free stuff. When they get money they spend it right away on hair, nails and tatoos and then ask for money for rent. I don't know if this guy is jaded or what. But the lady who runs the toy store said somewhat the same thing...so?

I'm at a loss. I think God is saying-"It's up to you" and I don't know what to do!

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it!

** pack school books as dd is done w/them
** put window washing fluid in pretty car
** ?? subaru dealer for new short antenna? I don't know if it's worth the time/drive but it would be nice.
** check in w/my parents
** get measured dog food in baggies for friend while she keeps dog for 2 days and for when my husband is driving out with the pup.

Have a lovely day,all.

25yos, 23yos, 13 yod I guess I am old enough for adult children.

My stomach hurts, but I still choose joy! :-)

Hellooooooooo... out there...

I feel a little bit lonely checking in. Very Happy

The accountability is good for me. I'm up slightly over last week, but it's okay. I "enjoyed" getting that gain. We had Christmas cookies around and it was a fun time. We have eaten them all, so I don't have to worry about this week. For extra accountability, I won't weigh in until the day after Christmas. That will keep me from going to hog wild on the day.

Have a great week! Just two weeks left until the new year. Are you ready? Do you have your goals in mind?

In Him--Tracy

Just trying to survive the holiday season without gaining weight! In the winter I am stuck indoors too much and I tend to eat out of boredom. Right now I am keeping my hands busy making gifts...not sure what will work after Christmas. Maybe I will have to do a major cleaning project or something.

Because of dh’s illness, I am mostly in survival mode. I am not making long term plans for this year—just trying to get through whatever comes with an attitude of gratitude and a joyful heart. It may not be easy!
