I think she is the personification of how Eve, the first woman who was created in the image of God. So too, the Proverbs 31 woman lived out her faith in her Creator and Redeemer; so did Elizabeth, and Mary, the mother of Lord, Jesus Christ. [Support our Advertisers!]

We all are probably aware of movie review sites of today / yesterday's movies broken down through the lens of a Christian point of view (or at the very least a discerning parent). Some even go so far as to count the number of curse words, or list various character issues that one would be exposed to, and so forth.

Is there anything like this for books?

Even little kid books in the library can be a hot topic minefield. While I have a trusty list of old classics, as my child grows, I don't want him limited-ish.

I'd love to plug in the name of a book's title and have something reliable fed back. There's no way that I can read everything ahead of time.

TIA

Peace

No kidding. I ranted about this a few years ago. Sometimes it's not just what characters say and do, it's about the agenda.

I could never find anything when my kids were little, but I googled and found a bunch. I use kidsinmind.com for movies and trust them, but idk about the sites listed for books as far as which ones are trustworthy. It may be a trial and error thing.

I've also used this...

and this...

Those aren't from a Christian standard, but a bit of a higher standard in excellence of writing (which automatically weeds out some of what we want to avoid).

I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. ~Phil 3:13-14~

Profiles from the Past ... While we look to the Lord Jesus Christ as our true model and to His Word as our absolute standard, we can glean encouragement and wisdom from much that has been written about education in the past, as well as learn from others' mistakes!
