The 80 degree weather today made me think about gardening. Even though I'll be jealous of all y'all in the South...

1. Do you have a garden?
2. Flowers, veggies, or both?
3. What do you plan to grow this year?
4. What's blooming or producing right now?

I have both flower and veggie gardens. So far I have planted lettuce, spinach, arugula, and radishes. I will have tomatoes, peas, green beans, squash, and more, but our last average frost date is the end of May, so I can't plant everything yet. I have asparagus, and lots of perennial flowers. Right now, the crocuses are in bloom, and daffodils are in bud. The rhubarb is just showing above ground a little bit...

Sadly, I have a black thumb. I have tried gardening in the past and only yielded a few little tomatoes. My DD wants to grow some flowers, this year, though. So, I bought her some seeds (she wants to start from the beginning) and a starter kit. Hopefully, she does better than me!

I have a garden and sadly, I think it's going to have to all be tilled up and killed off. Sad We have beautiful strawberries, but the new backyard neighbors refuse to do any sort of weed control and the creeping Charlie from their yard has taken over my garden and started into our yard. I'm not happy.

The tree gardens are thriving still and hopefully we will be able to continue to keep the creeping Charlie out of that area. The tree gardens are all perenials. Lots of gladiolas, tiger lilies, lambs ear, hostas, etc.

I'm not sure what I will do in the front flower pots yet.

Could you get rid of the creeping Charlie using Round-up & then put decorative concrete edger along the bottom of the back fence? Or does it grow over the fence? (I'm not that familiar with creeping Charlie.)

Sorry about careless neighbors!

PS Wikipedia has a helpful section on controlling it.

My dh loves to garden. He grows cukes, onions, tomatoes and peppers and he makes pickles and salsa. We also have an old orchard behind or house; apples, pears mostly. We also have cherry bushes, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and gooseberries. We have a thriving asparagus patch and the rest of our garden we grow various veggies. I have flowers around my house and a few patches at the edges of the yard.

My dh takes care of 90% of the gardening. It's his stress relief. I mow the law and weed the flower beds.

PS. We have nothing planted as it is wet around here. Some flooding a week ago.

I will check out the wiki site. The creeping Charlie grows from the roots. We keep round upping it and unless the neighbors take steps to kill it in their yard ....

"Up the Hill" ... It was obvious we were going steadily down when we should be climbing up. This time we looked at the simple trail map and used our compass to figure out we were going in the wrong direction. We turned around to huff & puff our embarrassed way back to the right path.
