I will be MIA for the next day, but I would like to know what you think or what you have heard of the events preceding the missile strike (is that the appropriate term). I'm hearing a lot of theories from parties and some of them from both parties seem to be conspirital. In fact, I'm hearing conspiracies from Party A that I thought would only happen in Party B (and visa versa). It's pretty hostile online and here in our city. I'll have a story for you when I return that is developing from a local protest that touches my family via my husband's dual role as artist and police officer. Apparently, the (what I personally feel) is the tepid entertaining of him in one world is going to be completely gone because of his role in the next. As for the topic at hand...I don't know what to believe any more. I thought your minds would be cooler in discussion no matter what side of the fence (or on the fence) one might be...and maybe could bring to me some clarity or food for thought personally.

Peace

Jamie, my broken shoulder has kept me so preoccupied that I'm really lost on current events right now. BUT I wanted to say that I am very sad for Franklin that he must choose his "box" and that people don't want someone to fit into more than one box or category. That makes the world smaller and meaner.

Thank you, Barbara. I've been left feeling very sad about it, and the simmering frustrated feeling could easily turn to anger. My husband says that he doesn't take anything personal (though some of this is coming directly from friends or spheres of influence and not just "people" in general). I probably need a thicker skin myself. I'm so very much understanding the biblical Jonah's desire just to wash his hands of people. Franklin is better than myself.

Peace

The tomahawks? I haven't read enough to understand Trump's reasons for doing that. Generally, my thinking is that the US isn't threatened by Syria in a way that justifies a missile strike, but then, I don't have the intel that the government supposedly has.

Prior to the election, our family was discussing the candidates and how we didn't want to vote for either. My dd's comment was, "Hillary is evil and a criminal, but she understands the gravity of the office. She will use it for personal gain, and will be corrupt, but she gets the big picture. Trump, is too narcissistic, and doesn't understand the gravity of the office, and I'm terrified he'll send us right into WWIII with his hot-headed attitudes."

Don't know if this is proving dd right, but it certainly is cause for concern, IMHO.

On a tangent---Barbara is struggling with her shoulder, and we're struggling with Brad's health issues. How many people are struggling in their own little spheres and don't have time or energy or the means to be involved with political activism just now, and how much would it matter if we could? I hope the checks and balances built into the system will serve us well while we're managing our homes and leaving government to Washington!!

Blessings,
Lisa R.

Overcoming Opposition ... A study using Mark 5:1-20. Jesus had suggested the trip and the disciples had willing followed. As they followed the instructions of Jesus they were met with opposition from the devil, i.e. the storm and the raging sea. Opposition could be expected since they were going about the business of plundering strongholds of the enemy.
