This question is spurred by a conversation taking place on the FB board: What is the dividing line (or is there, in your opinion) between a body of believers (church, denomination, however you need to frame it) considered a fringe sect and those considered a cult. How are these terms defined in your mind? What is that final dividing line between the two?

I haven't been back to check on this for some time. I really don't have a clearly articulated personal opinion on where the line is, so I googled and found this. Seems like a good place to start and covers some of the points I would agree with.

At the bottom, the page references "The Kingdom of the Cults" which is an excellent book, if you care to read it.
