Would love your thoughts on this:

What do you see as being the MAIN theme or message of Palm Sunday, and why?

If you don't want to attach to it the moniker of Palm Sunday, then what do you see as the main point or theme of Jesus riding into Jerusalem, people laying down their palm branches, etc…

What speaks to your spirit when you read that, and meditate on that?

Asking for a reason…I'm taking a survey, somewhat, and will be sharing in a class, and would love if you ladies would give me feed back on this topic.

All Scriptures, thoughts, etc..welcome. Smile

To me...the name "Triumphal Entry" sums it up. While we didn't know the "how" (ignorance is bliss?) at that point, we recognized that Christ was the son of God and was there to save us. He was the Messiah promised, scripture fulfilled.

Pretty much what Tracy said - the prophetic fulfillment of Zech. 9:9 and the revelation of the Messiah.

Also, I am always struck by the poignant image of humility Christ represents all through Passion Week- from being the Humble King entering on a donkey, to weeping over Jerusalem, to being anointed in Bethany, to washing His disciples' feet (including His betrayer), and then ultimately being crucified.

It is very interesting to look at the parallels between "Holy Week" and the observance of the Passover as outlined in the Old Testament. As part of "God's Appointed time" his people were required to celebrate yearly a remembrance. In the case of passover it is of the exit from Egypt. The first part of the passover remembrance is that several days before passover (10th day of Nisan) the people were to take into their homes a lamb that was to be their passover lamb (Ex 12:3) That lamb would stay with them till the passover (14th Nisan) when it would be sacrificed to remember the original passover lamb whose blood led to the redemption of the people of God.

Since all of God's appointed times are pictures or shadows of Messiah then the significance of the Messiah Jesus entering Jerusalem and the house of Israel on that day is clear. Another thing pointing to Jesus as our passover lamb!

Blessings

I think I would like to add here that ALL REPLIES ARE STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL-NO NAMES.

Just thought I should throw that out there, in case some are leery of answering. Wink
