1/2 stick butter - I have only used butter so use margerine at your own risk. Wink

1 1/4C flour
2tsp sugar
2tsp baking powder
1tsp salt
2/3C buttermilk - buttermilk is better, but I have used lemon/milk in a pinch

Preheat the oven to 450*.
Slice up the butter and place in bottom of an 8x8 glass pan.
Melt at 450* for one minute --- I don't know why they say ONE minute, I just toss it in the oven and take it out when it's completely melted.
Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Slowly pour buttermilk into dry mixture - stir til just blended.

Spread the biscuit dough over the melted butter with floured fingers. You will need to 'mush' it out to the edges. Using a dough scraper (or knife) that has been dipped in melted butter and then flour, cut the biscuits into 9 squares. Bake 10-12 minutes til golden.

"My Ransomed Soul He Leadeth" ... I'm not sure how, but, even with my hectic schedule, I started reading, A New Song, the latest Mitford book from Jan Karon. I could identify with the main character, Father Tim. As he prepares to leave (temporarily) the town he's lived in for 16 years, he races from appointment to appointment, commitment to commitment, errand to errand.
