I'm still considering joining the Army National Guard, though i haven't had the chance to talk to the recruiter lately.

Robby is doing good, he was happy to see us.

I had a really long texting conversation with an ex (we didn't really break up, haven't talked in forever because my phone had broke and lost his number about a year ago) this morning and he has two uncles in the army, one in Iraq (in the medical corps), and the other in Portugal (working on blackhawks)

Jen -- Steve, the Army attache, was home over Christmas. He has a new tumor, and will have chemo for it soon. I'm not sure what his prognosis is; church asked us to keep praying. Steve is in his mid-to-late 20s, I think. Steve is a believer.

Brandon is in the Army and is headed to Afghanistan for 18 months and then to Iraq. This is his first deployment. He is about 20. We're not quite sure about Brandon's spiritual condition but love him dearly.

Russell is in the Air Force and will be headed, I believe, to Afghanistan soon. He is about 21. Russ loves the Lord and has a Christian buddy being deployed with him. Update: Russ is going to stay in the States and train other soldiers. He's getting tons of extra training for any scenario you could think of.

Another update on Robby:
-he wants to come home in April for a big concert.
-he's planning on having the wedding in June or July in the states
-and that the Navy will allow him to bring his new wife (and baby when it arrives) to Italy with him

A son of our neighbor, a brother of my ds's best friend just arrived in Afghanistan for 7 months, Jordan Martin (a former homeschooler). He's a Marine and he's in a very bad area with a lot of Taliban control. Please pray for him, his wife, Lauren, and his family. He's on his last year as a Marine. His family are Christians.

Thank you
Robin H.

Update: Two marines from close by were killed over the weekend in the same place where this young man is. Please pray for his family's peace. I don't know if I could watch the news or not if I was his mother! Just excruciating.

*Dustin Pope - not sure when he's leaving, but he's heading to Afghanistan and a newly wed and soon to be a new father.

*Shaundra Koch - Afganistan

Updates on Dustin and Shaundra - Dustin was deployed to Haiti to help with the relief efforts. While it's not as dangerous as Afgan, obviously, it isn't without it's own share of dangers. The down side is that this will hamper his ability to get into Special Forces, since he's going to miss the selection dates, and Lauren, his wife, was supposed to join him for a few months at least, and now can't.

Shaundra is back in Afgan after being home for 2 weeks leave over Christmas. I think she has another 6 months to go.

Lord Jesus, we lift up Jordan to You right now. Lord, please surround Him and protect him from all harm. Father, we ask that You would give him wisdom and keen insight in all the decisions that he needs to make. Bring information to mind, and give him discernment regarding strategy, culture, and insight into his men. We ask for your divine intervention and protection over all those he is leading, too -- please protect them supernaturally, keep them all from injury, preserve their lives, and bring them home safely. In Jesus' precious and powerful Name we pray.

Just got our internet back up. This is an update from his parents across the road. Please pray.

Update on Jordan Martin

Please keep Jordan in your prayers, it is crucial right now, for him and all of our troops.
His unit, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, India Company, is in Marjah. They have been under
intense enemy fire the past couple of days. Movement is slow due to an extreme number of IED's,
land mines, and booby traps that they must remove, dismantle, or control detonate as they go.
They are also experiencing brutal weather conditions, including sub-zero temperatures.

Two reporters are embedded with them--
Mandy Clark of CBS news, is with 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines (3/6), and she reports on
all of the companies in 3/6, including India Co., and
Conor Powell of Fox news is with 3/6 India Company specifically

Thanks, ladies.

Praise to the Lord! Thanks for praying, ladies. Jordan was able to finally call (after 6 weeks) his wife and parents and even contact his wife via Facebook on an embedded reporter's laptop. Apparently communications are opening up now that things are more stable. He's stressed, doing okay, but misses home.

My son, PJ, leaves for his advanced training this week. He has chosen a rather scary career track for his military career (is there a non-scary military career?) and his training will be pretty deep. He will be gone for 20 weeks.

We aren't worried about him, but we will miss him!

Shaundra is home, and back at Ft. Bragg. She is doing well, from what I can tell. I haven't talked to her mom in some time.

Dustin is also home from Haiti, and Lauren (his wife) finally got to join him. I'm not sure what his status is.

My nephew, Tony, is transferring from Washington to Virginia. This will put him in a job where he won't have any deployments or ship duty for 2 years. He's been gone so much that he's looking forward to it.

My step son Andrew had knee surgery that had the potential of ending his military career. He came through it well, and is already back on limited duty (it's only been 2 weeks). We are going out to NC to see him in July. Due to his job, and how valuable he is from a training perspective, it looks like he's going to escape any deployment for the foreseeable future. He's a range coach, and they highly value his skills there getting others ready to deploy...kind of a mixed blessing... no deployment because they think he's too valuable where he is, but being in combat is what gets you decorations and promotions.

Please pray for my son, PJ. He is in a very difficult part of his advanced training and is starting to stress a bit. They are weeding out guys like crazy, and PJ is really fighting to stay in this field. There is TONS of classroom work, tests, etc. that he is worried about. The practical application is a piece of cake, but the paperwork is another thing.

Thanks!

Father, we lift up PJ to You right now. Lord, we ask that you would strengthen him in every way. Please give him a sharp mind for the academic portion of this training; please help him to focus on what is truly necessary to learn, and to absorb the information. When put to the test, please help him discern exactly what is being asked, and help him to recall the information quickly. Father, we ask that You would give PJ favor with his superiors and his peers; cause him to shine and stand out; cause him to be excellent. Please remind him that You are empowering him and that You are with him. Thank You, Lord, and it's in Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

DH has a nephew, Andy, currently in Afghanistan, and a brother, Jim, shipping out by the end of the month, also for Afghanistan. We're pretty sure both are saved, but away from the Lord. Both have also gone through some major personal struggles over the last year. Please pray that God will use this time to get through to them, as well as for their safety.

Andrew - my step son - is currently deployed in Afghanistan. He comes home at the end of May. So far, so good. Appreciate the prayers for him and his wife Delilah. So far he's missed their anniversary, her birthday, Christmas... still to go - Valentine's Day, his birthday. It's rough for her.

Ladies I have a couple more to add to our first soldier. We've adopted a couple more through AAUSS Smile

The first is Spc L. It's his first deployment, he's a single dad, and REALLY missing his kids. He's able to talk to his son pretty often because he lives with his family...but his ex isn't allowing him to speak to the dd that lives with her Sad He even bought and sent a computer so she could set up the Skype...this is of course very upsetting to him.

The second is SSG P...he's in a very remote area with just a few other men...he's on the edge as they say. I haven't heard back from him.

We have two more coming Smile A note went out yesterday that another group just arrived over there and many of them have signed up asking for the extra support. I'll let you know once we're assigned to them.

As for W...he's doing great Very Happy

Peter returns to the US soil within the week!!! We get to see him for Christmas(and his sweet fiancee(sp) too!!!
Dec. 6 He posted on facebook that he is back in the USA. Does a Mama's heart good.

Peter is now a married man and back in California. He and Anna were married December 23rd. We had a two week and 4 day notice. The May wedding was quickly moved because of training schedules. It was a wonderful wedding!!
