[Support our Advertisers!] Contributions from our Members:   Would anyone like to discuss how to teach a Gospel? ... I read something really interesting recently about the book of Mark. Let's see if I can get this straight. ... Here's the really fascinating part. Up until this century, many scholars tended to see Mark as a collection of important stories of Jesus' ministry with sort of "filler" material gluing it all together. But this "filler" material apparently has recently taken on new meaning since C.H. Dodd published a paper on it in the 1930's. [Support our Advertisers!]

I'm Teri in AZ. I'm 50 - so I'm one of the old ones on the board, but that DOESN'T mean I've got it all figured out! Laughing Laughing Laughing My dh and I have 6 kids, a SIL and a DIL and two grandkids (I told him when we got married, it was with GK in tow! They came with the package! Laughing Laughing ). I'm in the final 3.5 years of homeschooling - my ds graduates this spring, and dd will be in 10th grade this fall, so we're nearing the end. We are late-comers to homeschooling. While I did homeschool my two oldest for a time years ago, I didn't start with these two until 2002. I'm glad I changed though, trust me.

We are looking forward to the future when we are done homeschooling and dh retires (about the same time!), because we would love to travel! We hope to get a 5th wheel in the next year, and are looking for opportunities for service that we can do while on the road. DH is considering working as a consultant to churches, we are considering extended time working at disaster sites (like New Orleans, Gulf Coast area), anything that the Lord may send our way.

Oh, for the record, I'm originally from Cleveland and Dayton, Ohio, by way of Virginia (DC area). So, I'm not a native desert rat! I escaped all the snow the rest of you have, and sorry to say this, but YOU CAN KEEP IT! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Edited again: We have one dog and 4 cats (had to put down our beloved Lacey last month Sad) Trust me when I say blending animals is harder than blending families! One of our cats - Baxter - the male - still HATES my cats! Oh well! If he wasn't so darn loveable, he'd have been gone LONG ago!

I'm Pamela. I've lived in Alaska since 1982 with a 3 yr absence with dh's Air Force job. Married 20yrs this June to my sweetie. We have three children, 18yr dd (who graduates in May and wants to open a piano studio), 15yr dd (who wants to be a nurse) and 12yr ds (who wants to serve his country). I gave my heart to Jesus when I was 23, married when I was 24, had my first baby at 26 and my last at 31. I have always homeschooled. I enjoy being busy at home, cooking, cleaning and mundane things like crocheting the same pattern & shuffling paperwork. Music is my passion, although I don't have much of an outlet for it, except in the shower. Very Happy I was a cat person but he died after 17 yrs. Now I have a dog, who is supposed to be MINE, but he loves my husband more than me. Razz I guess I'll just wait for Grandbabies.

Hi! I just posted a "New To This Site" thread, but didn't include all of these wonderful details.

My name is Christy and I live in NorthEast Florida. I have been married to my dh Brandon for 10 years. We are a blended family, we have a total of 4 children, which we consider "our" children, not "mine and his". We have a 15yos, 14yod, 13yod, and a 10yos. We will begin homeschooling our 13yod and our 10yos within the next 30 days. (I am waiting for the approval from the school board here). So I am sure I will be bombarding you all with questions and advice as we begin this wonderful journey.

We also have a Cocker Spaniel named Buddy who is 1 years old, and his mommy's baby! Razz

I accepted Christ as my Savior 7 years ago. My husband is also a Christian as well as all of our children. I am very active in our church, I am in the choir, on the drama team, teach VBS and volunteer to help with anything that is needed.

Hi! I'm Donna, and I live in Northern Colorado. I was active here last year, but haven't been around much lately. I'm back, though! Christy, are you Christianmomof4? Hi! I'm Mercy4Me on the other board! If that's you, glad you made it over here!

I have five children, ranging in age from 28 to 9...my oldest is married and has four children of her own; second oldest is now in his sophomore semester at New Tribes Bible Institute in WI; third is a son, who's 20 and NEEDS A JOB! Very Happy Fourth is a 12 yo daughter, and lastly is a 9 yo daughter, both of whom I am still schooling at home.

Oh, I think I need to update my sig! We had a new granddaughter in November!

I remember all the sweet ladies here who helped me through last fall when my son left for school...I was just recovering from surgery, and it was a difficult time for me and my family. We still miss him! I cried all the way home from the airport when he left again after Christmas break! But it's been good for all of us, I guess...just haven't figured out how yet! Crying or Very Sad

Anyway, I'll be around...still having nerve problems in my arms and can't always type much, but I need to read a lot and get some fresh HS ideas!

Hi Everybody!!!
I'm Bobbi....I've been posting on Chf since about 1998-99. I have 3 beautiful children dd-19 graduating in May (25th to be exact) ds-11, dd-9...

I've been married to my dh for almost 21 years. We started out with our oldest in private school and then started homeschooling in 2nd grade (but I was her teacher in private school-so nothing really changed Very Happy) We have continued to homeschool except for a brief period when my younger two were small and my dad offered to pay for oldest to go back to private school.

Many of you (from the old board) might remember I use to post a lot on the recipes board and back sometime ago I started (but didn't lead) "A Woman After God's Own Heart" book study from here...I was in transition...the story of my life...moving from Houston to Seattle...also you might recall I lived in a tent, a hotel, an rv, an apartment, a condo in various states....RI, MA, WA, TX, AZ, and AK...and now I'm back in TX since the time I've started visiting this board.

I've met a couple people irl from here and various other boards...and one person (that seldom visits or post here anymore) and myself actually have become good friends by meeting on this board and live only a few miles away from each other in the same small town outside of Austin...

Hello everyone,
I'm Ellen ~ DH and I have been homeschooling for 14 years. We have 4 precious treasures.. DD (19)is now in college, ds is 15, dd is 11, ds is 9.

I'm married to my college sweetheart and we will celebrate our 22nd anniversary soon. We've lived in Georgia, Alabama, NC, and now Florida!

We are currently using Tapestry of Grace yr. 4 along with Saxon Math, Apologia Biology and Abeka 6th gr. science for DD.
I love homeschooling (most days) and thankful that I can stay at home. DH supports homeschooling and helps as he can. He loves history and so do our sons...He is an awesome daddy!

I love to read, thrift shops, spending time with my family, camping, and dates with my wonderful DH!

I don't post a lot but love gleaning so much from this site.
It has been fun catching up.

I love Jesus and want to glorify Him!
Ellen

My name is Eve and I have 3 dc ages 11, 9, and 7.
I have been homeschooling from the beginning and have been married to my dh for 15 years. I was not homeschooled myself, but ever since I was first pregnant, I have felt the call to homeschool. No one tried to talk me into it, although I had an aunt and uncle who homeschooled. It was just placed in my heart by the Lord himself and when I looked into it, I was only confirmed.

I love to write, journal, read and read some more! I also enjoy things like making home-made cards, scrapbooking, baking, nature walks with my children and making a nature journal, drawing, playing violin occasionally and doing some needlework. I love all sorts of crafts, so to choose one is sometimes difficult. I also love to organize and can get a little over-zealous with it. (BUT I am not good at always following through with my organized efforts! LOL) Shocked Laughing

I don't remember what year I found CHFWeb, but I have enjoyed it for several years. I have gained MUCH advice from the older ladies in this group!

Jesus is my best friend. Very Happy He is my all in all. I can't imagine life without him. He has been so faithful in all areas of my life.
Eve

Hello,
My name is Alice and I live in central New York State with my dh and ds age 15. DH and I have been married for 17 years, and we homeschool our son. Oh, by the way, I am 57 so that might just make me the old one here!! I don't post much since I am by nature shy, but I love to read the posts here. I also like listening than talking in person. I think that is about all I will write for now. Thank you for this wonderful forum.

I need to edit this to add that we are originally from New Jersey and moved to NY about four years ago.

Hi my name is Laurie. I am new to the CHFweb. My friend told me about it. She said there was lots of different materials to help get my son going. He's 3. I'd like to start homeschooling him now somewhat. You are definitely someone with experience if you have 8 kids. That's insane to me. Plus you work. You must be very energetic to do all that. That's awesome. I only have one and at 37 struggling to decide whether to have one more. I don't want him to be an only child, but he alone is a lot of work. He's not a bad child, just very smart, curious, and super, super energetic. Well, I have to run. Thanks for welcoming me.

My name is Janice I am a Mom to 3 children, almost 15 year old son, almost 14 year old son, and an almost 9 year old daughter. I have been homeschooling since my oldest 2 were 5 & 6, with a brief time in ps (which wasn't even a complete year) Needless to say we went back to homeschooling after that. I am originally from the Chicago area but we relocated to Florida 2 years ago this April. I work p.t. at a daycare serving breakfast and floating in the various classrooms 5 morning a week. I am taking each year at a time when it comes to continuing to homeschool my oldest 2. My heart tells me to continue but my oldest is considering p.s. We will see where the Lord leads in that area. As far as hobbies I am much like someone mentioned above. I love trying to find ways I don't have to pay full price for anything. I enjoy garage sales, ebay, and thrift stores. I also hold a paid position at my church as the nursery coordinator for the baby nursery. I don't really recall when I found CHF but it was a while ago. I tend to be a lurker and don't always post much. But I have really enjoyed CHF and it has been a great source of encouragement to me over the years.
