Jumping back in with posting. I'd lost 21 lbs and gained TEN back over Christmas. Shocked Embarassed Mad Goal is to get back to where I was. Since it was such a fast gain, I'm hoping it'll be a fast drop as well.

New Year, new start, new changes. Smile Here's to a happy and healthy (and hopefully lighter) 2018.

I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. ~Phil 3:13-14~

I started out the year heavier than Jan.2017, but lighter than the first of Dec. 2017--- I'm happy with that and I know it's because we are back in Utah where I walk most everywhere.

I have 2 more weeks of no lifting anything more than a gallon of milk and then I plan to get the 'bands' out and get to work on more than walking!

I've been working on the menu for dd and I and hope to have that finished by the end of the week.

Yeah!!! I love a bright shiny new year.

Christmas wasn't pretty, but ironically, if I eat ONLY high sugar crap I usually lose weight. If I eat ONLY dessert, I'm good. I feel horrible, but it doesn't cause the same problems as eating a high carb meal, even if it is healthy. Of course, over more than a few days, it starts affecting sleep, and definitely my mood.

I was down for 2017, for which I am really grateful.

My goals for January are 8 trips to the gym, 100 miles of walking/running and doing a Whole30 challenge.

You finished off the year well, Renee! (Imo, especially because you've been dealing with recovery to boot!)

Go figure on the carb thing, eh? Smile I like the way you look back at the entire year. I'm down, too over the year's span, but that 10lbs just burns! Embarassed

Do you have a fitbit or how do you keep track of your miles? That's fun to be able to do!

I did get a fitbit for Christmas, but I am still learning to use it.

I keep a manual log mostly. I do use the gps on my phone for an app that gives money to charity for every mile I log, but I find it wildly inaccurate. I usually map my routes on geodistance.com and I have a few standard that I know. I like to explore new places around town, but only if I know how far they are first!

And Pam, I feel for you on the ten pounds. There is nothing worse than losing a good momentum and gaining. I have horrible cycles like that.

My weight has been out of control for a long time and I eventually got up to 291lbs earlier this year. I have really felt convicted about this. The way I look has never bothered me too much (I can't say it doesn't bother me at all), but the way I feel does. I am tired constantly, sore, and unable to do so much. I am basically carrying another person around on my back at all times.

This has all made it impossible to serve the Lord and my family the way that I should. If I had a condition that was beyond my control, that would be one thing. But, this is a result of my own sins of gluttony and laziness. I need to get this under control so that I can serve to the best of my ability.

I would like to lose about 156lbs to reach 135. I am honestly not sure if this is a reasonable goal. Even in high school, I weighed a little more than that, although I didn't look it. But, according to all the charts, that is a healthy weight for me.

I'm doing things a little differently this time. In the past, I have signed up for food trackers and, when they ask how many pounds I want to lose in a week, I've said 2. Then, I end up starving and eventually get frustrated and quit. This time, I said I wanted to lose 1 pound a week. So far, I am not starving and I've lost an average of 1.5lbs per week when I am staying in my calories. I had lost about 6 lbs, but I gained 3 back over Christmas, putting me at 288.

Another thing I am doing differently is that I am working out nearly every morning. I found a program that I love and got a yearly subscription to the app for Christmas. It is called DDP Yoga. It is not like other yoga programs, in that it is a full cardio and strength building program. It is great for people with limited mobility. With my back and knees, I certainly qualify for that!

Since my goal is to lose 1lb a week, my goal for the end of January is to reach 284 lbs and my goal for the year would be to lose 52lbs and reach 236lbs. In order to do this, I need to track every bite and stay in my calories. I also need to keep working out. If I lose it faster, that is great! But, for now, even keeping the scale from going up is a huge win.
