What we await are new heavens and a new earth where, according to his promise, the justice of God will reside. So, beloved, while waiting for this, make every effort to be found without stain or defilement, and at peace in his sight. 2 Peter 3:13-14

This week, in preparation for Christ's coming, I am cleaning house. In the same way that I cleaned my home energetically in preparation for my own children's births, I will prepare for the birth of Christ. In tidying up the clutter and in seeking out the dusty corners and grimy hidden areas for some extra attention, I am creating a metaphor for my spiritual housecleaning. I will take some time to look into those dusty, grimy, hidden corners of my soul this week. Have I fallen into habits of thinking or acting that are not helpful for myself or others? Have I gotten a little lazy in my spiritual practices? Am I harboring resentments, fears, or attitudes that are not loving to myself, others, or God?

I will heed the words of John the Baptist: "Reform your lives! The reign of God is at hand."

Good morning! It finally looks like winter here. We had a couple of inches of snow yesterday, and the whole world is now covered in sparkling white stuff. My lovely neighbors (our doctor and his wife) raked our roof and cleaned up our driveway, since it wasn't enough to plow. Dh isn't strong enough to do that work, and, while I can shovel, I have bad shoulders and can't do the roof.

Our two African friendship family students were here yesterday. Akwasi was experiencing his first snow ever! We cooked together, making goat soup and also a peanut butter sauce with chicken to have with rice. Both of the guys really enjoyed a taste of home, and Akwasi took all the leftovers back to the dorm, because the food service is not running over vacation. Segun has finished his master's program and is looking for a job. He is staying with friends from church, so he took the extra goat meat home to cook something Nigerian for his friends. This morning my kitchen smells like goat and hot peppers...

My plan for the week:

Coffee & quiet
Dh has a dentist appt at 7 am
Aquafit 8:30
Medicare appt 10:00
Deposit money for DKG in bank
Email prayer group
Email Terry at Epilogos re donations
Clean downstairs
Pasta for dinner

Tuesday: **Some plans may be canceled due to predicted snowstorm!**
Aquafit 8:30
Clean upstairs
Tacos for dinner
Fiber Fun 5 pm
Pick up Margaret
Prayer group 7 pm

Aquafit 8:30
Knitting group 10:30
Short ribs and latkes for dinner in honor of Hanukkah

Yoga 8:30
Museum 9:30-4
Leftovers for dinner

Aquafit 8:30
Grocery shopping

Car to dealership for 100,000 mile service
Put up Christmas tree

What are your plans?

Have a wonderful week! SOAP for all of you.

"How and Where to Teach" ... It was as if my heart was squeezed tight and, like a soaking wet sponge, a flood of tears was released that I could not stop. My tears literally fell onto the floor. This reaction is not an everyday occurrence to me, but I know that I was tremendously moved by parents with a heart to teach their children.
