I have a 5.5 pound pork shoulder. Dh's friends (a bunch of them) from his bicycle group are visiting this weekend, and I said I would make a crockpot of pulled pork. All I need is a recipe. (I don't have an instant pot...just a big old fashioned crockpot).

Anybody want to help me out with a tried and true recipe?

I prefer one that doesn't use bottled BBQ sauce if I can find one.

We just put the roast in and dump a (32oz) jar of pepperoncini peppers over the top and cook as usual. Sometimes I'll add in a packet of lipton onion soup mix or beef broth, but usually not. You'll have to salt and pepper after it's shredded. If the whole pepperoncinis are too spicy, then you could use the rings instead. Those are de-seeded.

We put the meat in the crockpot, dump one bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce...if we do not have dh's homemade sauce, a bottle of original bullseye is our go to...and then cook to your liking. Easy peasy.
