Upstairs, we have a long hall shaped room divided into three parts. At the rear is 5yo Jonah's bedroom, the middle is his nursery room (play room) and, at the front/entrance, is a bank of bookshelves we call the library. In the library, we also have a desk and a nature table set up.

Over the coming months we'll transition this area to better fit Jonah's "Big Boy" status (turning six in December already). My idea for this entire area is to have it full of interests Jonah to explore on his own. A globe and microscope are on my Christmas shopping list. Franklin wants to begin collecting locally produced art focusing on nature/animals, but I'd also like to add a number of school house posters that will grow with him over the next number of years. Wall space is not an issue, given the length and height of the walls in the loft. I'd like to focus on science, nature, geographical and historical.

I'd love your help brainstorming some of the necessities to start. Obviously there's the world map that must be ordered. Solar system is another I'm seeking. Because of his interest in dinosaurs, I'm searching (so far unsuccessfully) for a "family tree" type. He had a long interest in Marine life, but it's more smattered. I'm thinking something with different whale sizes or the like.

Are there any other "must haves" or would really be "wow"?

Peace

If you do a periodic table, find one with photos of all the elements!

Common birds or wildflowers or trees might be nice.

In addition to a world map, one of your state and of the USA would be good.

History timelines are helpful. One for Bible study (because kids keep talking about Jesus in the same breath with Noah or King David... Confused ), one for world history and one for US history, maybe.

Our "Perfect"Homeschool! ... Recently someone asked me what I would like to change about our homeschool. I thought about it for several minutes, but I couldn't think of anything I wanted to change. For the past few years, we've reached a homeschooling plan and style that suits our family just perfectly!
