Have you seen or experienced a miracle? (Please limit yourself as described in the choices and see below for definition.)[ 14 vote(s) ]
1.tongues that are an earthly language in use today 0 / 0%
2.prophecy that was a true foretelling of the future 0 / 0%
3.healing that ocurred immediately as a result of one laying hands on another 2 / 14%
4.vision that was shown to be true 2 / 14%
5.tongues that are not (as far as you know) an earthly language in use today 3 / 21%
6.interpretation of tongues 1 / 7%
7.some other miracle that cannot be explained by natural processes 1 / 7%
8.No, I haven't seen or experienced any of these. 5 / 36%

Limiting this question is not meant in any way to discount the real works of God that happen or could happen through natural processes. I tell the following story because I know it can feel like denying God to answer "no" when you know you've seen Him working:

From the time I was 5 until I was 34 I sprained my ankle about twice a year. That's 58 sprains over the course of 29 years. When dd#5 was 6 months old, I was carrying her across the street when my ankle gave and I dropped her just as we were stepping up on the sidewalk. It was a bad sprain, and her collarbone was broken. I'm not sure people had ever really prayed for my sprains before, but when you drop your baby people pray! After taking care of the baby, I went to the doctor to make sure my ankle wasn't broken (not usual for me, either a break or going to the doctor for a sprain). This was a new doctor and we talked about my history of sprains. He told me that the only reason for so many sprains would be that a ligament was torn and he was sure I would need surgery. An x-ray would be needed, but he wanted to wait until my sprain was healed because he would have to really stretch it to get a good x-ray and wouldn't be able to do it while it was so swollen. Two weeks later I had the x-ray, which showed all ligaments were just fine. I had actually been looking forward to surgery to get that bum ankle healed, and I went out of there thinking "I guess I'm just stuck with a bum ankle." It wasn't until about 5 years later that I realized that it was healed. That was 17 years ago, and since healing I have sprained it once about 2 years ago.

That is a clear work of God, one that I would call miraculous. Either He healed the ligament before the x-ray or he strengthened the ankle so much that it isn't an issue anymore.

However, for the purposes of this poll, I would not count it because it was not healed specifically by someone with the gift of healing laying hands on it, and me knowing that it was immediately healed. No one did that, although I know that it was God who healed it.

So please limit yourself as you respond to the poll but feel free to brag on God in the comments! Very Happy

2 1/2 years ago I was struggling as I went through the "change".
I had extreamly heavy, 7-8 day periods , twice a month. I was barely holding my own with supplaments and diet, being monitored by my Dr. every few months. We were talking procedures and schedules, when my oldest Dd left her husband the day after Christmas, and moved home with a 3 year old and expecting a baby in the spring. On New Years I prayed , leaving in God's hands to give me what I needed to deal with our new situation. I didn't have any more periods. My energy came back and muddled thinking cleared. I believe God ended my cycles in answer to that prayer.

I have seen #3, #5, and #6 in my church more than once. The pastor my mom works for (at another church) has seen #1 & #6 - he is from Egypt and heard a message in tongues given in perfect Arabic by a non-Arabic speaker, and the interpretation (also by a non-Arabic speaker) was *perfectly* accurate!

I chose #7, because my healing was not the direct result of the laying on of hands, nor exactly from specific prayers.

However, in 1985, I had a cystadenoma on an ovary...that's like a fluid-filled cyst, but it turns on itself and twists, and has hard parts like a tumor. I saw a doctor who said I needed surgery and soon...it had the potential to burst and cause infection, and was not something that could heal on it's own. Because this was a newer, less well-known doctor to me, I went for a second opinion to the doctor I'd been seeing for years before I married. He said the same thing. This was a serious condition and required surgery.

I went ahead and schedule the surgery with him. Meanwhile, my situation was brought up for prayer at our Wednesday night prayer meeting. Next day, I went in for my pre-op exam, and had the most intensive one of "those" exams I've ever had. The Christian doctor finished and asked if I'd been praying about things. I said of course, and he said, "Well...there you go. God has clearly healed you, because there is *nothing* on your ovary, and those do NOT go away on their own." He sent me for a second sonogram to affirm his findings, and sure enough, I was completely healed.

So, I think that fits in as a miracle according to your definitions, but it wasn't *directly* as a result of the laying on of hands or whatever.

Blessings,
Lisa R.

I had a similar healing, directly as a result of God's healing immediately after laying on of hands.

I've seen all except #4 more than once.

I can only vote once, and yet I have more than one answer. I think you and I are going to get along just fine, Janet. Wink. 1-7...believe and seen them all.

2, 4, 5, 6, 7

I have read about #1.
Heard about #3

I have personally experienced 4, 5, 6. I spoke and interpreted a tongue publicly once. I have a prayer language as well. I also had a vision when I was single which later was true.

My number 7: My oldest dd also had a "unexplainable" healing. People were praying for her, but I did not have them do so for specific healing. She had obvious and clear testing (multiple tests) showing a problem (which also created a massive infection...so clearly it was not a mistake) and repeated scans months later showed nothing. When the physician read the scans, he was literally dumbfounded and told me that SOMETIMES things happen which cannot be explained.
