Appliance colors[ 17 vote(s) ]
1.Black 3 / 18%
2.White 3 / 18%
3.Stainless 5 / 29%
4.Almond 6 / 35%
5.or What are you thinking...Orange???? 0 / 0%

Were getting "new to us" blonde/golden oak cabinets for the kitchen. We're 99% sure that we're painting the kitchen in harvest oranges. Everyone we ask seems to have a different opinion on what color of appliances we should get and I don't have a good eye for this sort of thing.
So, I'm looking for opinions.
Here are the colors we're using (Pumpkin Bar on one wall behind the sink and stove, Gingerbread on the other two walls, and Belgian Waffle on the ceiling):

I voted stainless. A few years ago we put down oak flooring and granite countertops. Our cabinets are the color you are having and my walls are a deep red. We had had almond and white appliances and replaced them with all black. I love the black but should I ever need to replace any I would go stainless. It's not so dark, it's more versatile and since I don't have little ones it could stay fairly fingerprint free. Smile

I love the look of stainless against red or orange paint. That would be my choice.

I voted almond, but I'm not sure it would really look right, either. Black would be more dramatic (too dramatic for my taste...but maybe not for yours...) Stainless always works, so I think that would be a good choice too. If you think you'd be selling your house anytime soon (ie before your new appliances die), stainless is a good choice. Lots of folks like stainless. It does show fingerprints a lot...which is a good reason for almond.

Almond would be most restful to the eyes with the bright pop of pumpkin on the walls!

Thank you, Ladies. I think I'm leaning toward stainless as well.

I had a very good friend of mine caution me on the orange paint with the yellowish cabinets. I'm looking at the paint colors again, but may still fall back on the orange.

We all originally wanted sage type colors on the walls, but were afraid the cabinets were too light in color to go with it.

Janice, I wanted red but the boys didn't like it. I'll make the final decision, but I want everyone to love it.

Almost all the models homes I've been in lately have been stainless, although a few have been black. I don't recall white or almond in any. I think stainless is a good choice for years to come.

Sage is an amazingly neutral color. I'd go with that.

My whole downstairs is Restoration Hardware's signature color, Silver Sage. We have dark-stained oak floors, and all cabinetry is white and trim (baseboards, crown molding, door frames, etc.), as is the ceiling. It's beautimous.

If you go with the orange-y colors, then either almond (which I didn't know was still being made) or stainless. Stainless would still match everything when you decide to change to sage. Very Happy

I love my new french door 'fridge, but I hate, hate, hate that it's stainless (We got an incredible deal). You have to wipe up after any little mess, especially water, that gets on there. I am a messy cook, but most stuff did not show on my almond refrigerator. Now every little thing shows, I cleaned my old 'fridge once a week & now I have to detail my new one every day, minimum. And yes water will permanently stain it, if you don't get to it quickly.

I vote for sage!

(if we are voting for wall color...)

I think it is more restful. My kitchen has sage, but I have apples as a theme...so there are pops of red: a big wreath with a few apples wired to it; apples on the flour & sugar canisters; apples on some little paintings. Pretty, but simple.

I LOVE sage, also. Three rooms and 1 bathroom are various shades of sage in my house. My living room is my favorite. It is Hazy Sage by Glidden. As someone else said... so restful!!

Well, the orange idea was fun while it lasted, but I think we've changed our minds. Thanks for all the input though!

It looks like we're going to go with Soothing Green Tea by Glidden.
http://www.glidden.com/color/color-visualizer.do#path=colorP alette&cid0=87&cid1=87&cid2=87&cid3=87&c id4=&cid5=&cid6=&cid7=&cid8=

I think the "tone" of that color will go better with the cabinets than sage would. We'll get white appliances and white pendant lights as well. I already have a white stove and microwave, so that will cut down on costs too.

It should be a bright and cheery room.

What do you think?

My living room is a similar color, and it is very neutral and serene! I'm sure it will be bright and beautiful!
