[Support our Advertisers!] Contributions from our Members:   Divorce and the Call to Ministry ... I was asked by group leader in my Bible study if I'd consider a leadership position. I prayed and felt it was a good thing, my dh and kids supported me and I let them know I could do it. I was then interviewed for the position. It started out great. I shared my testimony of coming to know Christ as Lord and was just so enthusiastic. Then, the bomb came...I had been divorced years ago. This eliminated me from leading a group of women...With this plea for wisdom a great discussion was born! The divorced and ministry, are the two compatable? [Support our Advertisers!]

Are we ready for Christmas posts for 2017?

Where do you put your Christmas Tree? Do you have more than one? Ever since moving into our home, I've had difficulty finding a place I like for our Christmas tree. We have a living room space both upstairs and downstairs. I've always felt that we needed to have the tree downstairs so "if company" came we'd have something Christmas-y in our home (we don't have much else). Too, on years that our daughter and her family come over, I don't have to haul them to the upstairs one. (The upstairs is a duo living room plus our master bedroom in one.)

This year is one of our off years (the year my daughter is hosting in her home). I'm trying to decide if I want to just have a skinny tree in our kitchen (our home's entrance opens right into our kitchen). I've never placed it there before, but have loved the magazine pictures of trees placed there. It was just impractical, though, and we were never rich enough to do multi-trees. (My husband thinks it's ridiculous even if we could afford it, but I still wish we could.)

I'm trying to decide if I'll do that this year.

We have an out of the way space in the corner by our front door here and I love that it doesn't take over our entire living room like it seemed to do in the house before this one. It's actually the only place we could comfortably have a tree, come to think about it!

I agree, the pictures of Christmas trees in kitchens make it look so homey and cozy. You'll have to post a pic of your tree when you decide where to put it, Jamie. Smile

I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. ~Phil 3:13-14~

Ours goes in our den in the corner, not far from the fireplace (don't worry; it's far enough away!! Laughing Laughing ).

There's also a bay window in that room, so it looks pretty from outside.

We have to rearrange our living room a bit, but put it in a corner there. We just get a 5 ft tree these days, and it goes nicely on our big coffee table. No room in our kitchen.

If we had a smaller dining room table, it could go in our dining room...but we really use our big table, especially at the holidays, so no go there. And even with our big country kitchen, I don’t think I have a space for a tree in there.

Ours goes in the living room by the fake fireplace. Christmas Eve, we move out the large furniture so we can easily all gather together.

I have a bunch of teenagers, so putting up and taking down a tree is pretty easy with everyone helping. But, I am not organized enough to manage more than one. If I were the only one decorating and doing set up and tear down, I would never even consider more than one.

But, if magic fairies wanted to come do all the work, I would not be opposed to more than one tree.

Pencil tree in front of the living room window facing the street.

Growing as Parents ... It's not enough to teach them about the way they should go--we must train them and demonstrate a godly attitude toward them, too.
