We saw the oncologist yesterday. Dh has stage 4 gastric cancer. He will be starting chemo on Friday. The prognosis is not good; median survival is 11 months, but of course that means half live longer and half die sooner. He does have the HER2 receptor which means they can augment the chemo with herceptin, which will make it more effective.

We told our children tonight...all of them. Although I only gave birth to 2 children, we ended up needing to inform 9 young people...our two, our niece/foster dd, everybody’s spouses/SOs, dd’s ex, and a couple of international "friendship family" Dartmouth students. Whew! Dh says we have been accumulating children by accretion, like a snowball rolling downhill. (They are actually not really children, since all are over 30). We are letting dd tell the grandkids.

I am taking dh to have a port inserted this morning in preparation for the chemo. We are both so glad that he is finally being treated!

Please pray for us. All prayers and good thoughts are gratefully accepted!

We are at peace about the situation, but know it is going to be a challenging year. Last year was tough, but this will be tougher. I am so grateful that we have the support of many friends, including those on this board.

Plans for today:

Coffee & quiet
Laundry
Take dh to hospital by 8 am
Do reading for my class while waiting
noon appointment with chemo team
Take dh home
OSHER class 2 pm (I may be late, but dh is friends with the instructor, so I would like to see him)
Flu shot clinic when I get home
Pasta with meat sauce for dinner

What are your plans?

Have a great day! SOAP for all of you.

Oh, Lisa - I will keep praying for your husband and for you, your family (love the children story!), and for the medical team. Cancer is a hard, horrible thing -

Good Morning Lovelies,

I had a nice text at 'oh dark hundred' this morning from dearest friend inviting me to go to breakfast. It's been a long time since we were able to pull off what was once a weekly event. (breakfast)

Dd is getting ready for her ASL class and I will grab the remainder of the groceries while she is in class.

Oldest son checked in last night once he and his buddy got to the trailhead in AZ - they will be backpacking until Sunday w/no cell service. Thankfully, they are both smart and experienced so 5 people, plus the park service has their route plan.

Off to get a load of laundry going and then to co-op. I work tonight.

Lisa, I have not had contact with you in a long time.

I am so thankful for you, particularly during the time that we were dealing (unsuccessfully!) with a school system. I will never forget your kindness and encouragement.

I'm praying for you and your family.

God is Love.

I was at the doctor this morning for DD. We think she has strep. The rapid test was negative, but she has several symptoms, so the doctor wanted to send her swab to a lab for more thorough testing.

I wanted to drop in here, though, to see how things went with your DH, Lisa. I'm praying that the doctors will be able to find effective treatments and that he can begin to feel better, as well as heal. I'm also praying for the rest of your family.

Karen Martin asked me on FB to relay this message to you: "Stacy Stacy Alley Will you please let Lisa T know that I am praying fervently for her husband, her, doctors, kids, etc.? I cannot log on to the mothership. I feel like I am behind a glass wall looking in and banging on the glass trying to talk to her!"

Know that you have a whole lot of ladies lifting you, your DH, and your family up to the Lord!

I am so grateful for all of your prayers! Please keep them coming...we need all the prayers we can get. I am so fortunate to have so many praying friends...both on-line and IRL. I am very grateful for that.
