Quotes to Ponder
I turned on the CD player to listen to some praise music as I got ready for the day. It was the "Where I Stand" CD from Twila Paris. It's one of my favorites. When "Faithful Friend", one of my favorite songs, came on, I cried because the Lord has blessed me in this way and I can only hope that I am a faithful friend, too. Here are some of the words from this song ...
I am one of many whose path has been made clearer
By the light you've carried faithfully as a warrior and a child
God has used you greatly to encourage and inspire
And you've remained a true friend all the while
So I will never put you on a pedestal
'Cause we both know all the glory is the Lord's
And I'll be there to pray
that He will keep you by His grace
And I always will remind you to be seeking His face
I will be an open door that you can count on
Anywhere you are, anywhere you've been
I will be an honest heart you can depend on
I will be a faithful friend
I shared last week how I started reading Out of Control and Loving It! by Lisa Bevere. I am almost finished and have been immensely blessed by this book. One exhortation she writes about friendships is ...
It is imperative, especially in these times, that we allow God to establish our friendship based on His truth and priniciples.
Both my children have gone through times when they feel lonely. It's been amazing to see whom the Lord chooses as their friends. It's also been a blessing to watch them grow in their friendship with the Lord. Our relationship with the Lord is one that we can neglect when we are obsessed with having friends. Barbara Smith has written a wonderful article about this called,
"Lonely?". I recommend reading it if you have ever had to deal with loneliness yourself or with a lonely homeschool child.
I wanted to thank those of you that have recently written all of us at CHFWeb, for your prayers, contributions, and encouraging words. I have even received some wonderful e-mails about the Quotes to Ponder. We are working on having the message board back up and running in the next week or two. I miss reading all the discussions, "meeting" new people, hearing what everyone is up to, being encouraged by the many messages full of wisdom, wit, and love. God bless you!
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel. - Proverbs 27:9
He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend. - Proverbs 22:11
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. - Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 3:20
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. - 1 John 1:7

Where I Stand
by Twila Paris
This is one of my favorite CDs. I am always blessed by the beautiful music and words that Twila Paris brings us in her music. --Kathy Ridpath
Out of Control & Loving It:
How to Let Go When You're Afraid You'll Go Under
by Lisa Bevere
Lisa Bevere shares in a very open, humble way the lessons she has learned in her own life. This book is about how we hold onto so much of the control of our own life, how miserable that makes us, and, most importantly, that God's plan for our life is perfect if we would only give Him total control!! -- Kathy Ridpath
Teach Me Lord That I May Teach:
What We Learned Homeschooling the Kids
by Barbara Smith
A beautiful book encouraging us to look to the Lord for wisdom and strength! Those who are familiar with Barbara's postings (aka BWSmith) on the message boards will know what a valuable resource this book is for all homeschooling families. --Tamara Eaton
"And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord;
and great shall be the peace of thy children."
