Out of Control

Last Tuesday afternoon I sat down to write last week's Quote to Ponder. I never did get to that. I had decided to check my e-mails before writing. One e-mail stated that due to the heavy demand of the chfweb.com domain, it was likely that our hosting service would be shutting down the CHFWeb Message Board. Two hours later, the Homeschool, Hot Topics, and Recipe Swap sections were shut down.

My immediate reaction was disbelief, then came discouragement. I remembered and looked up the following quote from Kay Arthur's His Imprint My Expression ...

To become discouraged is to become disheartened--to be weakened, to lose your courage so that you think there is no way you can win. When this happens, you throw up your hands and say, "I'll never make it! I'll never survive. It's no use. I'll never get out of this one." Unless you deal with discouragement--head it off at the pass--there is no way to be the victor.

Joshua 1:9 says, Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Beautiful words for one tempted to become discouraged!!

I just started reading a book by Lisa Bevere called Out of Control and Loving It!. This has been a timely book for me since I do feel out of control with what has happened to the CHFWeb Message Board. Lisa Bevere writes ...

Dare to believe when you cannot see or understand. Decide to trust God instead of dwelling on your fears. This is the powerful force that separates the believers from the unbelievers. Complete knowledge does not require faith. God challenges us simply to trust Him and His word.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) says, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." For me, these last few days have been about trusting and resting in the Lord, knowing that He has good plans for CHFWeb. Lisa Bevere writes ..

We are a people in transition. During transition God is more concerned with our condition than our comfort. Because this is true, often He will allow the upheaval of our circumstances, finances, social standing, security and relationships. Seasons of change are crucial, critical times in our lives. It is in the whirlwind of transition and turmoil that we find out what we are made of and who is actually in control.

I hope you will join me in praising the Lord! We know HE IS IN CONTROL!!! AMEN!

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. - James 1:2-4

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. - Isaiah 43:19

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us - Ephesians 3:20

His Imprint My Expression :
Changed Forever by the Master's Touch

by Kay Arthur
One of my favorite books--sixty-five devotional chapters filled with encouragement and exhortation from God's Word--challenging us to look to the Lord and His Word for all our needs! A book to be read over and over again and shared with others--beautiful gift for those going through trials. Reveals God's Imprint of Faith, Obedience, Trust and Grace--embrace Him and express His Imprints in your own life! --Tamara Eaton

Out of Control & Loving It:
How to Let Go When You're Afraid You'll Go Under

by Lisa Bevere
I just started reading this book so I can't recommend it entirely yet. Lisa Bevere shares in a very open, humble way the lessons she has learned in her own life. This book is about how we hold onto so much of the control of our own life, how miserable that makes us, and, most importantly, that God's plan for our life is perfect if we would only give Him total control!! -- Kathy Ridpath
